Take Action: Tell your representatives to oppose unfair warranty reimbursement regulation
The Missouri legislature has introduced legislation (HB 1914) that, if passed, will negatively impact Toyota – and could significantly increase costs, impacting the affordability of vehicles.
The bill requires manufacturers to reimburse dealers for guaranteed warranty repairs using third-party independent time guides, which are designed for older vehicles not under warranty. This is unfair to Toyota and to our customers. It would increase warranty reimbursement costs and ultimately drive-up vehicle prices.
It is critical that legislators hear from you to share that the dealer franchise system is important to Toyota, but a change in the law regarding how warranty repair time is paid will impact the affordability of vehicles. This function should remain a part of the manufacturer dealer franchise agreement and not regulated by government.
Toyota is committed to ensuring consumers have access to affordable vehicles and continue to offer lower-cost sedans and fuel-saving hybrids, but we must work together to ensure a fair and equitable franchise system remains in place.
